I didn't care for the location and one of the elevators was out which meant that I needed to walk to the back of the property to take a tiny elevator up to my floor and then walk all the way back to the front of the property to reach my room. As a diamond I was crammed into a tiny room. The Maison Astor was garbage in my opinion. Stayed recently at both Maison Astor and Hilton Paris Opera. Good breakfast and elite recognition at this hotel? I'm a Hilton Diamond, and I wouldn't mind the Hampton Inn you mentioned if it's reasonably located and I can get to the Louvre or other tourist locations quickly. My preferred hotel, Hyatt Regency Paris Etoile, jumped from €275/night to €398/night, so it's no longer a decent option. I'm making somewhat of a last-minute booking to Paris. I actually preferred to stay at the Hampton Inn in Clichy even if it was a metro ride from my company's office.I just saw your post. Glad I never stayed there at higher prices. I only stayed there that one time because it seemed to be a slow week as the rates were a bit below 200EUR, so lower than usual. I would never recommend the Hilton Opera. Issues ran from hard product (uncomfortable stiff bed, uneven creaky floors, tiny room), soft product (incompetent staff giving incorrect information), and just crap (one of the worst lounge happy hours I've seen in EU). I've only stayed at the Opera (also a diamond) and was not thrilled, to the point that my discussion with one of the managers resulted in a Be Our Guest cert. Maison Astor Paris, Curio Collection (Paris) (France) (was Astor-Saint Honore) Is neither a choice? You can peruse the threads for each property However, it could still be closed due to Covid and the food offerings may not be substantial enough for a meal. The only reason I would choose the Hilton Opera would be if the location was more convenient to whatever you were planning to see and if you wanted to save lunch/dinner food expense by eating in the Paris Opera lounge.

I take Uber and Lyft frequently, so I rarely worry about a hotel's location, especially when I am staying in major cities.

They were sold out, so I don't believe I received any room upgrade, but the room was clean and comfortable.
HOTEL HILTON PARIS OPERA FULL
Some hotels consider a croissant and coffee/tea as full breakfast, but I got eggs, fruit, breakfast meats etc, at the Maison Astor and that was more than acceptable. When I tried to tip the Maison Astor employee he wouldn't take any money.
HOTEL HILTON PARIS OPERA DRIVER
The only negative part of the experience was that Uber will only allow a maximum tip of 100% of the initial fare, so I was only able to thank the Uber driver with a 20 Euro tip. On my way to CDG, we took a short side-trip to the airport Hilton and I was able to recover my phone. The employee coordinated with the Uber driver and the airport Hilton for him to drop my phone off at the hotel. The employee talked to his coworkers and mentioned that there was another Hilton property by CDG airport. However, he had another fare outside of city limits and I was flying out that afternoon. The driver took another minute and looked underneath and between the seats and was able to find the phone. I handed him my phone and he implored the driver to check again. However, one of the employees overheard my conversation and said he would be happy to speak to the driver again. He was nice, but my French is limited and I was disappointed when he said he didn't see my phone. I normally carry a spare phone when traveling, just in case the unexpected happens, so I grabbed my backup and was able to reach the driver. I figured it must have fallen out of my pocket when I was getting out of the Uber. Most of my family cheer for the Green and Gold so I couldn't resist taking a picture when I realized I didn't have my phone. Much to my dismay, as a life-long Bears fan, someone had written this message for all to see. I took some time to explore the property and stumbled upon their Sports Lounge. At the time, the room rate was around 500 Euros per night.Įarlier that day, I decided to take one of those river cruises around the city and took an Uber back. The rate per night was higher (this wasn't a big factor, but I like getting outsized value from those credit card certificates. The property dates to around 1907 and was a home to JJ Astor of Titanic fame, if I recall correctly.Ģ. I'll normally choose boutique-style hotels over larger properties with lesser character. The Mason Astor appeared to be a more unique property.
HOTEL HILTON PARIS OPERA FREE
I had a free credit card certificate, so cost was not an issue.ġ. I chose the Maison Astor for a couple reasons. I was in Paris, September, 2018, and was in a similar situation.
